UCONN HARTFORD COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT GRANT: GUIDELINES

OBJECTIVE

The UConn Hartford Community Engagement Grant is an opportunity to address the increasing need among Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) at UConn Hartford to access funding that covers the cost of community-supported projects beyond the scope or funding capacity of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG). Funded by the UConn Hartford Campus Director’s Office, the grant provides funding for community-based advisors and trainers to support RSO-designed and -led projects that serve or benefit the RSO and/or the larger undergraduate student body at UConn Hartford.

ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES/INITIATIVES

  • All projects must engage community-based resources, groups and/or individuals to advise and support RSOs to help to advance equity, inclusiveness, and service on campus. Examples include but are not limited to:
    • Faith-based
    • Service-oriented
    • Arts/culture
    • Civic Engagement
    • Entrepreneurial

GUIDELINES/PARAMETERS

  • The grant is a value of up to $2,500 for the entire academic year.
  • Rolling deadline until limited funds have been exhausted for the year.
  • Open only to active UConn Hartford RSOs who are in good standing with SOLID training requirements and the USG.
  • The project must align with the RSO’s mission.
  • The RSO must identify an advisor/mentor to support them through the process and implementation.
  • The project must be applied/implemented during the academic year for which it was applied.
  • The project proposal(s) will be reviewed and evaluated by a committee of staff and administrators guided by the scoring rubric.
  • Recipient organization must participate in a brief orientation meeting with Student Activities staff that covers the funding process.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Project overview: why needed; how implemented; who will benefit? (max 300 words)
  • Demonstration of why community-based resources are needed (vs. existing UConn resources)
  • Include directions to demonstrate adherence to guidelines above.
  • Budget
  • Timeline
  • The grant proposal can come in the form of a Microsoft Word document or PowerPoint.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Limited grant funding available each academic year.
